Matt, how can improving soldering techniques reduce the risk of refrigerant leaks?

In this edition of “HVAC Skill Builder,” Matt discusses how to reduce refrigerant leaks with improved soldering techniques.

Matt, how can improving soldering techniques reduce the risk of refrigerant leaks? Having proper soldering techniques is critical. When you’re brazing and soldering on an air conditioner specifically, you want to sand down that copper to get a nice smooth finish on it. Also, you want to be able to adjust the oxyacetylene in those torches so when the flame comes out of the tip, it’s coming out at the proper temperature for the system to properly prevent loss of efficiency.
