Teamwork Equals Better Customer Relationships
Posted on:
When it comes to home energy efficiency, the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) has long been setting standards and leading the fight towards creating a more energy efficient America. While the home energy industry offers customers a variety of options, oft en they’re piecemeal solutions presented by different contractors, making it difficult and inconvenient for homeowners who are searching for the best overall solution. This is one of the main problems that RESNET EnergySmart Home Performance Teams address.
What are RESNET EnergySmart Home Performance Teams?
EnergySmart Home Performance Teams are essentially partnerships between HERS Raters and a number of local contractors. By combining their skills and knowledge, RESNET Energy Smart Home Performance Teams can offer customers complete energy saving solutions from the start. This works out well for clients, who no longer need to search for multiple contractors to complete the job, and for professionals, who benefit from new business.
What are the benefits?
For customers, the benefits are quite clear. Instead of being forced to look around for various contractors to fulfill different requirements for their job, they get a complete energy saving solution from a team of skilled experts. It’s like a racecar crew in the pit stop!
Raters can profit in a number of ways as a part of an EnergySmart Home Performance Team. For example:
- Working together with skilled professionals who view the home as complete system and adhere to the same set of high standards (as set by RESNET).
- Being able to provide a better service by offering complete solutions, which leads to enhanced credibility among their client base.
- Increased business through referrals from team members.
Contractors too, enjoy a number of benefits, including:
- Increased credibility through working with a RESNET Certified HERS Rater.
- Being able to offer a complete solution, rather than one segment, which translates into providing customers with a higher level of service.
- Increased business through referrals from team members.
How do they operate?
There are many ways that EnergySmart Home Performance Teams generate business for their members. For example, during an onsite inspection, a HERS Rater will not only be able to pinpoint a home’s problems, but also off er immediate solutions available through other team members. Homeowners therefore have the advantage of working with a team of certified RESNET professionals who view the house as an entire energy system, and understand what the overall requirements are in order for it to function efficiently.
It works the same way if an individual team member is working with one of their customers. Instead of being limited to offering a single solution to one problem, thanks to their team, they can address a number of problems simultaneously, thereby providing a better and more efficient solution for the homeowner.
By team members continuously interacting with one another and bringing each other in on different projects, not only is more business generated, but customers enjoy a more complete level of service as well. At the end of the day, everyone wins!
Who can be a part of an EnergySmart Home Performance Team?
A RESNET EnergySmart Home Performance Team can consist of any number of contractors, as long as they have all earned their EnergySmart contractor designation. However, each team must include at least:
- One HERS Rater, to perform an energy analysis of a home’s design, and to carry out on-site testing and inspections.
- One state-licensed Heating and Air Conditioning Contractor (assuming that the state in question requires licensing) who is a recognized participant of the ACCA QA Program.
- One RESNET Certified Air Sealing and Insulation Contractor, who employs at least one senior Insulation Installer that is either ICAA Certified or holds certification from another industry based program.
EnergySmart Team members are not restricted to working with one team alone and can be members of multiple teams.
If you’re not already a member of an EnergySmart Home Performance Team and are interested in becoming one, use the RESNET directory at www.resnet.us to contact RESNET professionals in your area.
