Homeowners Want One Thing—Here’s How To Give It To Them

When it comes to learning about our customers, we tend to overcomplicate things here in the HVACR industry!

You can spend a lot of time thinking about what motivates your customers to hire you to install a HVACR system. But the average homeowner isn’t a 1000 piece puzzle—it’s actually quite simple. They’re hot (or cold), and their HVACR system is to blame. They want something fast, good, and cheap (I know, but that’s another blog).  Here’s how to win them over: by making them feel that they’ve gotten what they’ve paid for.

It’s a simple concept, but the reality is that historically it’s been easier said than done.

Homeowners Want a Better Way to Assess Your Workmanship

HVACR installation is expensive, so it’s understandable that a homeowner would be cautious about handing over all that money without some kind of assurance that the company they hire is going to actually do what they say: install a heating or cooling system the right way.

In the past, where would homeowners look for guidance? Here are a few examples:

  • Online reviews
  • Word-of-mouth from neighbors
  • Gut feeling after talking to a member of your sales team

But the reality is that none of these options are foolproof. Online reviews can be faked. There’s no guarantee one homeowner will have the same experience as their neighbor. Doing a “vibe check” on a salesman is rolling the dice. Traditionally, your customers have had to rely on subjective evaluations of your company. But now, there is a better way!

Problem Solved: How to Prove the Quality of Your Work

Today, there’s a better option—not just to convince your customers that the odds are high they’ll receive quality work, but to actually GUARANTEE it.

This is why ACCA created the Quality Installation (QI) certificate in the first place. QI certificates are issued only after an HVACR installation meets high standards verified by measured performance. There’s no guesswork, and there’s no faking it.

Backed by third-party confirmation of quality, a QI certificate means that both the install tech and the homeowner know the system was installed correctly.

Asking a homeowner to trust you is hard work! It’s easy to show them that your company is so committed to quality work that you won’t leave anything to chance. You trust the QI certificate process, and they can too.
