Starting January 1, 2023, the Department of Energy will be updating its energy efficiency standards for HVACR equipment. In addition to this, regional standards in the South and Southwest will be based on the date of installation, not the date of manufacture. These regulations could make existing supply shortages worse, and open the doors for distributors to shift responsibility to the customer. It is more important than ever for the industry to be ready for these standards, and to join the fight against them.

ACCA has partnered with Heating, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) and Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC) in filing a petition to overturn the EPA’s ban on the use of disposable cylinders for HFC refrigerants, which we believe exceeds the authority granted to EPA under the AIM Act.
