Matt, What Should Be Included on an Invoice?

In this edition of "HVAC Skill Builder," Matt discusses what should be included on an Invoice.

Q: What Should Be Included on an Invoice? A: I recommend using the three C's of invoicing, and the three C's are the reason for the call, so document why you got sent out there. The next one would be the cause, what caused today's failure. The third one is the cure, which are going to be recommendation, what have you identified that the customer needs out there and present those as part of your options. And number four is the code. Any code deficiency, any code violation, you want to document tha so to go over one more time, it's going to be the reason for the call, the cause, the cure, and the code. If you stick within those four items right there, you're going to have a pretty solid invoice, and you're going to be able to have everything in writing for the customer. Then you let them choose whether they want to do the repairs or not.
