In this edition of "HVAC Skill Builder," Matt discusses how to respond to a customer that asks the technician (You) if they'll do the repair or replacement work on the side.
Q: How Do You Respond to a Customer That Asks (You) The Technician Will You Do the Repair or Replacement Work on the Side? A: You respond with no, plain and simple, you do not want to get involved with doing any type of repair work or installation work on the side. Technicians do that occasionally, and personally, I don't see it as being very honest that you're robbing from the company. However, your company hopefully has some warranty stuff in place and some liability protections to protect the company in the event something happens. But I highly encourage people not to do work on the side. Have the business run through your company and that way you can provide the full service, the warranties, the guarantee to the client.
