Hey Ed, Tom Asks About Why Gas Furnaces Are Usually Oversized
In this edition of "Hey Ed," Ed talks about why gas furnaces are usually oversized.
Hey Ed, Tom asks about why gas furnaces are usually oversized. Can you comment on that? I absolutely can. We see a lot of oversized furnaces and in fact I remember Tom’s comment that mentioned seeing equipment that was 100% oversized. And there are actually applications where that is acceptable. Manual S speaks about oversizing a furnace to the heat loss as much as 200% when we need to pick a bigger blower. So that is a reality at times. But whenever we can avoid those oversized furnaces, we should simply for the fact the closer the furnace size is to the heat loss of the structure, the more comfort that it’s gonna provide. And that’s the way I see it.
