Hey Ed, is there a big difference between R-454B & R32?
In this edition of “Hey Ed,” Ed discusses the difference between R-454B & R32.
Hey Ed, is there a difference between R454B and R32? Depends on what you mean by a big difference. So let’s start off with R32 is a single component refrigerant, just like R22 was. And we’re going to look at the 454B as a blend. It’s not a single component refrigerant. The 32 has a very similar, I believe, within a degree for its boiling temperature from 410A. Whereas the 454B, I don’t think it’s a half a dozen degrees, but it’s maybe four or five. So when you say, is there a big difference? I don’t think so. They are very much like refrigerants we’ve used in the past. The counterpoint to that is they’re a tiny bit different because they’re A2Ls. And we do have to keep that part in mind. And that’s the way I see it.
