Hey Ed, Is It Permissible to Put a Return in the Bathroom?
In This Edition of “Hey Ed,” Ed Discusses if It’s Permissible to Put a Return in the Bathroom
Hey Ed, is it permissible to put a return in the bathroom? I thoroughly enjoy that question, and I really resist the urge to say five or six different responses to that that would be tongue in cheek but probably will end up on the cutting room floor. So, I'm simply going to say no. For the obvious reasons like humidity that would come from the bathroom. And I know what you were thinking because it wasn't going to be humidity, but that's one of the reasons, and then the obvious one is odors. If you look at code compliancy, whether we're talking about IMC or UMC codes, you can find references where it specifically says no returns in kitchens and no returns in bathrooms. I think it's solid guidance and that's the way I see it.
