Hey Ed, Does This SHR Stuff Apply to Mini Splits?
In This Edition of “Hey Ed,” Ed Discusses the Use of Mini Splits and SHR
Hey Ed, does this SHR stuff apply to mini splits? The sensible heat ratio absolutely applies to mini splits, and one of the things that I always try to forewarn people about when it comes to mini splits is to make sure that the piece of equipment that you're installing has the latent capacity that you're assuming it does. I'm not saying that mini splits can't have good latent capacity, but I'm gonna say the majority of them don't. The majority of mini splits, especially when we're dealing with heat pump mini splits, are programmed for efficiency, not for performance. And performance, from my perspective, is a piece of equipment that not only can drop the temperature in the house but has the ability to remove the moisture that is part of conditioning the air. And that's the way I see it.
