Happy National HVAC Tech Day from ACCA

Posted on:

For many of us, the start of the summer means getting back to the things we enjoy – hiking, swimming, cookouts, and visits to the beach. Likewise, many of us will also retreat into an air-conditioned home to cool ourselves off from a long day spent outdoors under the blazing sun. While this luxury is often taken for granted, it is important to commemorate the essential HVAC technicians that put forth the time and diligence to ensure our AC unit is working to cool our homes in the most efficient way possible.

June 22 marks the fifth year observing National HVAC Tech Day. To show our appreciation of all the hard-working HVAC professionals across the industry, ACCA has compiled some quick facts about the profession and how you can thank HVAC technicians.

How did National HVAC Tech Day start?

National HVAC Tech Day was founded in 2016 by the national home services provider, ARS/Rescue Rooter. This day recognizes the hard work and essential services that HVAC technicians provide each day to ensure indoor safety, comfort, and efficiency.

Why are HVAC technicians essential?

Brave Extreme Working Conditions

HVAC technicians are tasked with installing and maintaining components of a home’s heating and cooling system. They come to work each day ready to endure harsh weather conditions, from the bitter cold to the scorching heat. Technicians typically work within confined spaces of a home or building, such as attics and crawl spaces, often covered in dust, grime, mildew, or unwanted pests.

Provide Cost and Energy Savings

Technicians are equipped with the knowledge to provide the most efficient HVAC solutions for your home. Their recommendations for thermostat and equipment options coupled with routine HVAC maintenance can help homeowners save energy, money and reduce their carbon footprint.

Highly Skilled Workforce

It takes additional education at a trade/technical school, or through an apprenticeship, and thousands of on-the-job work experience hours to become a certified HVAC technician.

How can I show my appreciation?

On behalf of ACCA, we would like to thank all the outstanding HVAC professionals for taking care of our homes, hospitals, schools, office buildings, and factories. We are truly grateful for your continued dedication and diligence toward ensuring a comfortable and safe indoor environment for all! In celebration of National HVAC Tech Day, ACCA’s American flag will proudly fly over the U.S. Capitol on June 22, 2021. This flag will be presented to the Service Manager of the Year at ACCA’s Service Managers Forum on November 2-3 in New Orleans, LA.
