A Message from Martin Hoover, ACCA Interim President and CEO

Dear ACCA Members, 

53 years ago I started my journey learning the HVAC trade. Twelve years later, I began my journey as co-owner of Empire Heating and Air Conditioning with my wife Gila on hopes and prayers as a three-man operation. Five decades. That’s how long I’ve been showing up for this industry — and I’m just getting started. 

When the Board named me Interim President & CEO this past June, I didn’t feel the weight of a title. I felt the pull of possibility. ACCA stands at an exciting inflection point, and I am energized by what we are going to build together. 

I spent 41 years building a business in this industry. I know what it means to juggle a service call schedule, manage a growing team, navigate workforce challenges, and fight for fair regulations that let contractors do their jobs. I know the ACCA membership not as a demographic, but as colleagues and friends. That perspective doesn’t leave when you step into a leadership office; it sharpens your sense of purpose. 

And right now, my purpose is clear: keep ACCA moving forward at full speed. 

Our advocacy efforts are firing on all cylinders. Our training programs are delivering results. Our events are bringing the industry together. The HVACR workforce is growing in visibility and respect. These aren’t happy accidents — they are the result of contractors like you investing in an association that fights for your business every single day. That fight doesn’t slow down. It accelerates. 

The ACCA Board is conducting a national search for our next permanent CEO, and I have confidence that the search will bring exceptional leadership to this association. Until then, I am here — boots on the ground, sleeves rolled up, focused entirely on serving this membership. 

This industry is at a pivotal moment. The demand for skilled HVACR contractors has never been greater. The policy battles we’re waging have never mattered more. The opportunity to attract the next generation of talented professionals into our trade has never been more real. ACCA is positioned to lead on every single one of those fronts — and we will. 

The best days of this association are not behind us. They are ahead of us, and we are going to meet them head-on.
