The US Department of Energy Secretary (DOE) Jennifer Granholm recently spoke via video to ACCA contractors at the ACCA 2023 Conference and Expo in New Orleans, LA. In addition to other issues, she addressed rising energy costs over the past year and the difference that clean energy could make. On February 25, 2021, Jennifer M. Granholm took the oath of office as the 16th Secretary of Energy. In her role, Secretary Granholm spearheads the Department of Energy’s (DOE) efforts to advance cutting-edge clean energy technologies, playing a crucial part in fulfilling President Biden’s vision of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Simultaneously, her leadership aims to create millions of high-quality union jobs in the clean energy sector, fostering an equitable and inclusive economy.
Beyond these goals, Secretary Granholm oversees the DOE’s fundamental missions. These include bolstering American scientific discovery, ensuring the security of the nation’s nuclear deterrent while reducing nuclear threats, and addressing environmental damage caused by legacy defense programs.
