Opportunities to Get Involved With ACCA

Posted on:

I am often in awe when I stop and think about the amazing services and resources ACCA offers its members, and the extraordinary work performed daily by the outstretched hands of the employees and volunteers that make up this association. Whether those outstretched hands are on ACCA’s committees, or by participating in ACCA’s online member contractor forum, there are many ways you can get involved with ACCA and/or contribute to your community.

ACCA’s Political Action Committee (ACCA-PAC) provides an opportunity for our members to get engaged in the political realm. By contributing to ACCA-PAC or by taking action online, ACCA members have the chance to support and engage with political candidates who directly impact the HVACR industry. To get involved with the PAC, you must provide ACCA with prior approval to contact you regarding PAC information. If you are interested in joining, please contact pac@acca.org.

The ACCA 2021 Conference & Expo, February 21-24 in New Orleans is all about contractors, and ACCA’s goal at this event is to bring together the industry’s most successful owners, entrepreneurs, and innovative up-and-comers all in one place. Sharing your wisdom at ACCA 2021 or another ACCA event is a great way to give back and foster a culture of excellence among the next generation of HVACR leaders while raising your national profile. We’re particularly interested in speakers who can share practical insights on the workforce, leadership, operations, and finance issues contractors need to improve and grow their businesses. Whether you have a fully formed workshop proposal or just a case study to present alongside others, we hope you’ll fill out the ACCA Call for Presentations survey by visiting accaconference.com.

ACCA even has opportunities for students and young professionals. The ACCA internship program offers students the opportunity to advance their professional preparation through work experiences that complement the course work in their majors, and for which they earn academic credit. We offer telework/remote year-round opportunities. For more information about ACCA’s internship program, visit acca.org/about-acca/opportunities.

ACCA is also preparing to launch a completely revamped model for student membership, including unlimited member access for students of ACCA member schools. In return for these benefits, we’re asking students to engage with member contractors – anything from doing load calculations or drafting blog content remotely, to full-fledged summer jobs. If your company has creative ideas or specific opportunities for providing real-world experience to participating students, we would love to feature them as part of the program launch. Please email your ideas to membership@acca.org.

Unless we attempt to undertake more than we think we can do, we will never do all that we are capable of doing. Let us together extend our outstretched hands, do some small but important things to help our industry, and give it the best we can.
