West Virginia Treasurer and Congressional Candidate Riley Moore Joins ACCA for Special Town Hall

Posted on:

How are elected leaders and candidates working on sensible changes that foster growth in vocational work?

That was the topic of a special virtual town hall event ACCA hosted for members with West Virginia Treasurer and Congressional Candidate Riley Moore on April 2.

Moore is running for Congress in WV-02; he previously served in the West Virginia House of Delegates. Prior to public service, Moore began his career as a welder.

Moore shared a behind-the-scenes look at topics and issues, including how his time in the skilled trades has informed his policy priorities and decision-making process while in office. One key program was the establishment of the ‘Jumpstart Savings’ program, a state-sponsored initiative designed to support individuals in West Virginia who are pursuing careers in the skilled trades, including the HVACR industry. The program allows participants to save money and provides tax advantages for various professional expenses such as tools, supplies, equipment, licensing, certification, and other business-related costs. Moore also discussed his journey as an elected official, what his priorities in Congress will be, issues affecting the state of West Virginia, and more.
