Welcoming new legislators to start 2025 strong

CAAG rolls out the welcome mat
Like most associations, advocacy is central to the mission of Conditioned Air Association of Georgia (CAAG). Successful advocacy is dependent on strong relationships with legislators and leaders in your state. Elections come every two years, bringing new faces to the scene. That’s why CAAG monitors elections closely, particularly “toss-ups” or open seats. They look at where the candidates stand on issues important to contractors and strategically engage when appropriate. Once the dust settles, you’ll see who’s in the game for the next legislative session. Just make sure they know you as well.
When elections are over, the CAAG team develops connections with returning and new legislators. In Georgia, the legislative biennial training in December following elections helps support this effort. These few days are set aside for legislators new and old to sharpen their skills with lots of information before session. This gives advocacy groups like CAAG the ideal opportunity to build relationships with legislators over coffee, lunch, or dinner in a relaxed setting. Each January, CAAG co-hosts a legislative welcome reception in the state capitol during the week legislators return to Atlanta, inviting them to network with CAAG and other like-minded trade associations. This event has proven to be another great opportunity to share the important work of our industry and ways they can assist us in making it even better. It pays to engage your legislators early and often. As they say, you’re either at the table or on the table.
ACCA & TACCA ink events agreement
ACCA and the Texas Air Conditioning Contractors Association (TACCA) recently signed a new agreement outlining plans for participation in and promotion of each other’s upcoming events.
The partnership launched with TACCA Live 2024, November 6-8, in College Station. At this event, ACCA’s Sean Robertson joined TACCA President Roland Arrisola and local chapter leaders on a featured lunch panel, bringing key insights from both organizations to the forefront of the conversation.
At ACCA 2025 in Austin, TACCA will highlight its state policy victories during the Contractor Town Hall on March 27. Later that day, they will give a big Texas welcome to attendees at a new signature event: Shoot for Success, a charity clay shoot competition benefiting the ACCA Educational Institute.
Both organizations will also cooperate on promoting membership, emphasizing the importance of strong associations to represent contractors at the local, state, and national levels.
