Matt, What Basic HVAC Knowledge Should Office Staff Possess to Assist Customers and Support Technicians Effectively?

In this edition of "HVAC Skill Builder," Matt discusses how important proper documentation is as a technician.

What basic HVAC knowledge should office staff possess to assist customers and support technicians effectively? One of the ones that comes to mind from experience is during the ACC season many customers are calling up and saying their air condition is not working and a lot of the time the system’s frozen and some customers are able to tell the dispatcher that. So in fact if a customer calls up and say their system’s frozen depending on your company policy it would be good for the dispatcher to tell that customer to keep the system turned off and have the fan running so when the technician arrives the system won’t be frozen and they can increase the likelihood of getting that system repaired on the spot versus having to reschedule and come back out and have that customer stay in their home without air conditioning.
