Our Thermal & Specialized Solutions business puts the power of our chemistry to work to meet the needs and support the growth of the HVACR, commercial and industrial refrigeration, and mobile air conditioning industries. The inventor of Freon™ and innovator of new-generation Opteon™ refrigerants, Chemours infuses a century of cooling experience into every product, customer interaction, technician training session, and advocacy engagement. Having been influential in every significant evolution along the HVACR timeline, we are uniquely positioned to support ACCA member companies and professionals in transitioning to lower global warming potential (GWP), more sustainable refrigerants—providing personalized customer service and product solutions that support your current business as well as growth strategies. 

In 2022, we invested in a capacity-expansion project to increase production of Chemours Opteon™ YF (HFO-1234yf) by 40%. Being one of the world’s largest producers of HFO-1234yf solidifies our commitment to the resiliency and vibrancy of the HVACR industry and the businesses that comprise it. Offering excellent performance and a very low GWP, Opteon™ YF is a key component of new-generation A2Ls, which have emerged as a replacement for higher-GWP HFCs in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. By ensuring a robust A2L supply, we can meet current demand and encourage more customers to transition to technologies that support industrywide decarbonization and circularity. 

From PhD chemists and technical trainers to customer service reps, everyone at Chemours offers the expertise to support HVACR contractors—whether they’re installing/servicing equipment or strategizing for business expansion. Beyond manufacturing refrigerants that support HFC phasedowns, Chemours focuses on these pillars to support contractors in transitioning to solutions that offer longevity in an evolving regulatory landscape: 

• Education: We prioritize educating contractors on current and pending regulatory changes that impact the industry and their business. In addition, we keep businesses up to date on their HVACR equipment and refrigerant options, outlining each one’s benefits and other important considerations. 

• Training: Chemours has technical trainers who launched their careers as techs “in the van,” giving them a unique ability to fully understand contractors’ needs and challenges. Pairing this with in-depth knowledge of older and new-generation equipment requirements, we provide robust training resources, so contractors can maintain their current business while leveraging opportunities presented by the A2L transition. Our training program includes online resources, virtual and in-person training, and more. 

• Collaborations: Chemours supports the initiatives of respected trade associations such as ACCA and aligns with major OEMs to ensure the industry has access to the products, equipment, and training necessary for a smooth transition to A2Ls. Together with our partners, we help contractors pursue the most effective strategies for refrigerant management and A2L-based business solutions. 

• Advocacy: We’re dedicated to using our voice as a leading global refrigerant innovator and manufacturer to ensure that rules and regulations impacting refrigeration equipment manufacturing and use are in the best interest of HVACR businesses
