Matt, How Do I Talk to a Tech About Their Personal Hygiene and Cleanliness?

In this edition of "HVAC Skill Builder," Matt discusses how to talk to a tech about their personal hygiene and cleanliness

Matt, how do I talk to a tech about their personal hygiene and cleanliness? Well, that can be a very challenging conversation to have with your service technician but what I found was when I was a service manager, I would just call the technician and just him and I or her and I are in my office and we just have the very difficult but delicate conversation about the cleanliness and the hygiene and we try to explain to them that it's very important that when we go out to a customer's house, first impressions are everything and if you haven't kept yourself well put together if you don't take care of yourself, how do you expect the customer, customers going to believe that they're, you're going to do a nice, clean, safe, and honest job. So, again, I always took it back to customers' first impressions of you and I would just explain to them we need to raise the bar a little bit here and maintain yourself in a professional manner.
