The product line serves comfort cooling applications — from residential window units to commercial air-conditioning systems — plus industrial refrigeration in supermarkets, warehouses, and ice rinks, along with critical cold chain transport applications.
The Forane® brand continues advancing toward lower-GWP solutions while maintaining the performance contractors expect. Forane® 32 (R-32) provides a low-GWP alternative to R-410A for air-conditioning systems. In Q3, Arkema expanded its lower-GWP portfolio with five additional products:
- Forane® 454B – R-410A replacement for comfort cooling
- Forane® 448A and 449A – Low- to medium-temperature commercial refrigeration

Measurable retrofit success
When Solar Supply’s warehouse office in Lake Charles, LA, needed an air-conditioning retrofit, they chose Forane® 427A as their R-22 replacement. Solar Supply operates 57 locations across Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, making their experience valuable for understanding retrofit performance.
Brent Miller’s Heating and A/C performed the retrofit on a 3.5-ton heat pump system, with Arkema technical personnel providing on-site support. The results exceeded expectations; operating pressures closely matched R-22 while the compressor ran at lower amps and discharge temperatures.
Paul Brame, Solar Supply’s local branch manager, described the retrofit as “quick and simple.” The system continues operating as expected with no performance issues, giving office occupants cool, comfortable temperatures.
