Hey Ed, Which Is More Accurate, the Heat Loss or Heat Gain That Comes From Manual J?
In this edition of "Hey Ed," Ed talks about heat loss or heat gain that comes from Manual J.
Hey Ed, which is more accurate, the heat loss or heat gain that comes from Manual J? That’s a real simple one to answer. The gain is a lot more accurate because it has to be. We’re not only looking at the gain that’s coming into the structure and trying to control that, we’re looking at the moisture load that’s in the house and trying to control that. We can take some things into account more readily like solar gain, for instance, as opposed to a heat loss where we can’t, we are not of the ability to guarantee that we’re gonna have three straight days of solar gain so we can’t include it. So what you end up with is our heat gain ends up being a closer number to reality when everything lines up than the heat loss. And that’s the way I see it.
