Hey Ed, what's your favorite HVAC tool and why? If we're talking about air conditioning, and we're going to talk about air conditioning because essentially, I can do whatever I want because I'm kind of in control right now. So, I'm going to talk about air conditioning, and I'm going to say a digital hygrometer is my favorite tool. If I want to be cheap, I can buy fairly accurate, inexpensive digital hygrometers from Amazon that'll cost me like ten bucks. I can stick 'em all over the house, and I can get accustomed to what proper humidity and normal temperatures feel like. If I want to go even further into the process, I can buy digital hygrometers that I can put in my ductwork. If I know the wet bulb temperature in both the supply and the return, a simple mathematical calculation can tell me approximately how many BTUs that piece of equipment is removing, and that is a much better way to judge whether a system is doing what it's supposed to be doing using some of the tools that people might find that is their go to and I'm talking about gauging up. I'd much rather estimate the performance of a piece of equipment than solely going off of some pressures, or superheat, or subcool. And that's the way I see it.
