Hey Ed, what’s with the gray refrigerant tanks? Did the refrigerant manufacturers run out of colors?
In this edition of "Hey Ed," Ed discusses gray refrigerant tanks.
Hey Ed, what’s with the gray refrigerant tanks? Did the refrigerant manufacturers run out of colors? It almost seems that way, doesn’t it? The other part about this that’s very weird is you might have a supply house that’s been giving you pink cans or green cans or name your flavor. And it’s literally been, I believe now, three years since there was a change, an trash-ray change in the color schemes of refrigerant cans. The simple explanation is the colors were coming out that were too close together, and people were putting the wrong refrigerant in systems because they were not looking at the actual number that represents the refrigerant inside that jug. So the decision was made, gray cans make it so that you have to look at the number. You can’t simply assume what’s in it based off of the color. Personally, I think it’s a great idea, and that’s the way I see it.
