Hey Ed, what is mass flow?

In this edition of "Hey Ed," Ed discusses air flow vs mass flow.

Hey Ed, what is Mass Flow? Mass Flow is what the cool kids talk about when we’re talking about air flow. I think everybody’s familiar with chucking boxes or moving CFM and it’s a fairly accurate way of doing it but depending on how much each box weighs which is relative to the moisture content and elevation of the air, a pound is always going to weigh a pound and it is not that difficult to turn a mass flow calculation into a volumetric flow. So that’s a fancy way of saying boxes versus weight and whenever you can calculate your air flow by weight it can lead to a more accurate calculation and that’s the way I see it.
