Hey Ed, Steven Asks at What Oversized Percentage Do We Start to Say ‘OK, That’s Too Much’?
In this edition of "Hey Ed," Ed talks about oversized percentages.
Hey Ed, Steven asks, at what oversized percentage do we start to say, OK, that’s too much? I would like to say that there is no oversized percentage that’s acceptable when we’re speaking about air conditioning. And I have a little asterisk on that. If you live in an environment that’s arid or a dry, I still don’t want to be oversized. But the next thing I’m going to say maybe doesn’t apply as much. If you’re in the rest of the country where 80% of the people live where it does get humid, if I have to choose, I’m going to pick something that is closer to undersized than ever oversized. The name of the game is dehumidification. The smaller the piece of equipment is compared to the heat gain on the structure, the better it’s going to dehumidify. The better it’s going to dehumidify, the more comfort it’s going to provide. And that’s the way I see it.
