Hey Ed, is measuring wet bulb ΔT always necessary when checking a system? - Necessary. I love that word. And I’m gonna say it should be required. Anybody that wants to know the performance of an air conditioning system and wants to get a good idea of truly what it’s doing, you simply quantify the airflow moving across that system. You take two wet bulb temperatures, those temperatures can be converted to enthalpy. And we can take our airflow times our difference in enthalpy times 4.5. And that will get us a approximate value of how many BTUs that system is producing. Far superior than knowing super heater sub-cooling. Not that they’re bad things to check, but at the end of the day, I wanna know what that machine’s doing. And that simple test will tell us exactly what that machine is doing. And that’s the way I see it.
