Hey Ed, is charging with liquid really a thing?
In this edition of "Hey Ed," Ed discusses the advantages of charging with liquid.
Hey Ed, is charging with liquid really a thing? There’s certainly an advantage to charging with liquid for multiple reasons. The first two that come to mind is we can avoid fractionation when the liquid is taken directly out of the can and then introduced into the suction side. Same thing, we can maintain pressure in the can when we take liquid directly out of the can and into the suction side. What I want to emphasize is liquid itself should not be entering the suction side. We should go through some kind of an orifice to make sure that that refrigerant gets an opportunity to boil so we don’t have to be in fear of any kind of liquid slugging. And that’s the way I see it.
