Hey Ed, is air heavy?
In this edition of "Hey Ed," Ed discusses the weight of air in a room.
Hey Ed, is air heavy? It depends on the quantity. If we’re talking about one cubic foot of standard air, it’s .075 pounds for one box. If we were to look in the particular room that I’m in right now, you can’t see it, but you’re going to have to take my word for it. I got a room that’s 50 by 60 by 12 foot high. I’m not going to actually do the math. Actually I am. Pause that. I did the math real quick and it came out at 1620 or let’s call it three quarters of a ton. Is that heavy? I know I can’t lift it if we’re talking about all the air in the room. So I’m going to say that air has mass. It has weight. And if we have enough of it, I would define it as heavy. And that’s the way I see it.
