Hey Ed, How Come the Air Coming Out of the Vent Is So Much Louder at Work Than at Home?
In this edition of "Hey Ed", Ed discusses why the air coming out of the vent is so much louder at work than at home.
Hey Ed, how come the air coming out of the vent at work is so much louder than it is at home? That’s intentional. When you’re sitting at your desk, can you hear every bit of the conversation of the person who’s in the cube next to you? I hope not! Lunchtime is coming up can you hear their tummy growling? I hope not and that’s intentional. Part of the HVAC system design is to create some background noise. We don’t necessarily want that in residential applications because in a residential application the system will come on and go off as needed. When we look at commercial systems that fan inside the office because it’s not only conditioning the air it’s bringing in outside air on a continuous basis. We're not going to have that Intermittent cycling of the fan so it’s part of the design and it’s expected that’s the way I see it!
