Matt, What Strategies Can Technicians Use to Build Long-Term Relationships With Clients Through Effective Service and Communication?


In this edition of "HVAC Skill Builder," Matt discusses how important proper documentation is as a technician.

What strategies can technicians use to build long-term relationships with clients through effective service and communication? One of the best things that I found personally was when I went out to a customer’s home, whether to do maintenance or repair, I would invite them along with me. I would say, "Hey, do you want to go on a road trip with me? Has anyone showed you how your system works?" And I would take them through the entire service so they understand what’s going on, and I was completely transparent. And again, speaking from experience, invite them along, let them know what’s going on, and then once you have the diagnosis, present them with options that’s going to best meet their budget and the needs of their HVAC system.
