Hey Ed, which is heavier? Dry air or wet air?
In this edition of "Hey Ed," Ed discusses the weight of dry air versus wet air.
Hey Ed, which is heavier, dry air or wet air? - This is a fun topic for me. I will ask this in a class quite frequently if there’s a situation where it’s relevant. The most common answer is as we add moisture to air, it becomes heavier. And if that was actually the case, we would be walking through the clouds. ’Cause if you go outside right now and look up, we see clouds. That’s because water vapor, when it’s added to air, actually makes the air lighter. And that’s the way I see it.
