Hey Ed, What Is Duct Testing?
In This Edition of “Hey Ed,” Ed Talks About Duct Testing
Hey, Ed, what is duct testing? Duct testing is the phrase that is often used when we talk about duct leakage testing. As far as I know, for the entire lower 48, the code requirement on any new construction houses is that the ducts need to be tested for tightness. There are mixed reviews or mixed requirements when it's an existing home when a new duct system gets installed as to whether or not it's a requirement. If you are not familiar with duct testing, or even more importantly, if you're not familiar with how much capacity loss is associated with duct leakage, it's something that should definitely be on your radar. And that's the way I see it.
