Matt, When Conducting an AC Inspection, Should You Put Gauges on Every AC System?
In this edition of "HVAC Skill Builder," Matt discusses adding gauges on AC systems during inspections.
Q: When Conducting an AC Inspection, Should You Put Gauges on Every AC System? A: I do not recommend putting gauges on every system that you're going out to and by doing that every time you go to someone's house, you're letting a little bit of the refrigerant out every time you put gauges on it so I don't recommend that. However, there's also other methods, which are non-invasive methods that can help you check the system out without even putting gauges on the system so unless you have a real reason, a diagnostic reason to put gauges on the system, I do not recommend it before all other tests are done, before determining if gauges need to go on that system.
