Hey Ed, should I put in a heat pump? I think putting in a heat pump in just about every application is a solid idea. Will heat pumps heat a space as well as a fossil fuel-burning plant? I struggle to say yes on that one because it's not necessarily the heating system that dictates human comfort. A lot of that has to do with the structure that that heating system is trying to maintain temperature in, but from a perspective looking at return on investment, in most climates with typical utility costs, it's pretty rare that we won't find that the heat pump, at least some heating outdoor temperatures, won't provide us with a positive return on investment. So, in a general sense, a heat pump is almost always a good choice. And that's the way I see it.
