Hey Ed, What’s the Main Problem When We Make up a Friction Rate?

In this edition of "Hey Ed", Ed discusses the main problem when we make up a friction rate

Hey Ed, what’s the main problem when we make up a friction rate? The biggest problem with making up a friction rate is not gonna be the size of the ducts that that made up friction rate will produce, the biggest problem with making up a friction rate is we don't know how much pressure we have to start with and there's a lot of rules of thumb that people use and if we use those common rules of thumb we're gonna end up with a fan that doesn't have enough power to overcome the pressure drops in the system, so from day 1 that system gets installed and it does have adequate airflow and without being too dramatic, it’s a travesty, it doesn’t have to be this way, all we have to do is follow the guidance in these books and we'll get that predictable results that we see and that's the way I see it.
