Minimum Wage Rates to Increase July 1
Posted on:
Starting July 1, 2022, minimum wage rates will increase in more than 20 localities across the United States.
These minimum wage increases will be seen in more than 10 localities in California, as well as in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Minneapolis, and Portland, to name a few.
In states with no minimum wage or with a minimum wage below $7.25 an hour, employers must pay at least $7.25 an hour to all employees who are not exempt from the federal minimum wage.
To help ensure that the minimum wage keeps up with the rising cost of living, many states and municipalities adjust their minimum wage rates annually. Others adjust their minimum wage rates periodically through legislation or ballot initiatives.
