Corporate Partner Spotlight: Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS)
Posted on:
Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS) is the industry’s one stop shop for all things HVAC. John Androski, METUS Director of Sales Operations, shares METUS insights that contractors need to know.
Mitsubishi Electric and Trane Technologies joined together in 2018, providing products, systems and solutions for cooling and heating. What are some exciting innovations you have created since the start of this joint venture?
At the very heart of our joint efforts is developing and supporting prosperous communities with our products and services. We’re expanding the adoption of energy-efficient mini-split and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology and providing effective solutions for both the homeowner and building owner.
Within the residential channel, we’ve developed our patented Dual Barrier Coating to prevent build-up on the internal parts of the indoor unit, enhancing air quality and system lifecycle. We’ve also made huge leaps in cold-climate performance with our Hyper-Heating INVERTER® (H2i plus®) models providing 100% capacity to as low as -5 degrees and heat down to -13° F without the need for supplemental systems.
Within the commercial channel, our controls platforms, like Building Connect+, provide seamless management of up to 200 indoor units from a singular interface. This has been a game changer for facility managers of mid-rise developments. We’ve also been hard at work developing Heat2O™, our first plumbing innovation benefiting commercial spaces requiring large volumes of domestic hot water. This heat pump system, using CO2 as refrigerant, prioritizes sustainability with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1. We’re excited to roll out this offering nationwide in the coming year.
Supply chain issues have greatly impacted the industry. How have you been combatting this, and what advice to you have for contractors struggling with these issues
Over the last two years, supply chain issues have been difficult for everyone. That said, we’ve developed practices to mitigate long wait times. In 2015, we overhauled our supply chain approach and switched to end-to-end supply chain management. We track extensive data on sell-out activity and inventory change, and we’re in constant communication with our distribution partners. For contractors struggling with supply chain issues, we recommend building a strong relationship with the distributors/suppliers in your area. Staying close to distributors/suppliers who work directly with the manufacturer will keep you in the loop and help you give your customers an accurate picture of lead times.
We’ve also expanded our warehouse operations to support our customers across the country more efficiently. Our new warehouse in Florence, NJ, streamlines product deliveries in the Northeast and reduces reliance on West Coast ports. Customers west of the Rocky Mountains are supported by our new warehouse in Mira Loma, CA. Our Suwanee, Georgia warehouse continues to serve the Central and Southern US.
METUS is on a mission to contribute to a more sustainable society by developing and promoting energy-saving all electric products and systems. What energy efficient products and innovations are you most excited about?
Innovation is in the DNA of our company and we strive to offer solutions for the best in both comfort and efficiency. We’re excited for our customers to experience our newest product offerings.
Our intelli-HEAT™ Dual Fuel System bolts onto an existing gas furnace allowing homeowners to use an energy-efficient, all-electric heat pump as their home’s primary central-ducted heating source. During periods of extreme cold, intelli-HEAT switches to draw heat from the furnace based on capacity and economic balance points.
An update to a classic, our Premier Wall-mounted Indoor Unit is one of the most flexible indoor solutions yet! Offered in a range of sizes and designed for diverse applications, the units are now equipped with patented Dual Barrier Coating, Hyper Dry capabilities, and enhanced PM 2.5 filtration as well as H2i capability for cold-climate applications.
SMART MULTI™ is our newest, multi-zone outdoor unit. Offered as both a heat pump and hyper-heating heat pump with capacities from 36,000 to 60,000 BTU/H, SMART MULTI brings improved SEER and HSPF efficiencies. Available for pairing with our M-Series, P-Series or CITY MULTI® ductless and ducted indoor units, this multi-zone model features Blue Fin HEX coating as a standard feature, reducing corrosion and enhancing the system’s durability.
