How To Show Your Staff Appreciation Before The Busy Season
Posted on:
A company’s success goes far beyond its monetary value. In fact, one of the major factors that contribute to a company’s success is the hard work and dedication of its employees. Did you know that a majority of employees care about how companies value and treat their staff?
No matter how small or large, a true and successful company should always work hard to ensure that their staff are well appreciated. While it may seem daunting, there are creative ways you can show your appreciation that can be accomplished through something as simple as learning the name of each of your team members or acknowledging them when you bump into each other at the office. If a team member is working remotely, a simple email acknowledging their hard work on a specific project they’ve finished can also make them feel appreciated.
Just as your employees work hard to please you, it is just as important that you work to please them as well. As we are approaching the summer season, it is crucial that you ensure that your staff feels appreciated during these busy times. By following these four tips, you will be able to not only achieve the growth of your company, but also the relationship you have with your staff members.
Hire Enough People
Within every industry, you will encounter an annual busy season, and the HVAC industry is no exception. As the summer season is only a few weeks away, your employees will need all the help that they can get, which is why it is your responsibility to hire enough staff to meet the influx in demand. If you are understaffed for the summer, the lack of staff can not only cause lower quality work from your technicians, but can also cause stress and early burnout amongst your current employees.
To avoid any misunderstandings, try planning ahead to avoid unnecessary stress and burnout for yourself and your employees.
Invest in Training
There are many ways to show your appreciation towards your employees, but it will essentially all come back to the quality of training that they receive. Through proper training, this will help your employees to be the best at what they do and move forward in their careers by increasing their agility.
As the HVAC industry continues to evolve, it is just as important that your employees adapt and learn effectively. Through continuous training, this will keep their knowledge fresh, and their skills set sharp. In addition, increased confidence begins to emerge, which is an essential trait when working with customers.
Lastly, skill development and training genuinely make employees happy. In fact, they want the opportunity to learn and gain more experience than anything else. An ongoing training program will provide them the opportunity to develop expertise while improving upon current skills in their field.
Provide a Work-Life Balance
While it is important that your staff perform their everyday duties, it is just as important that they have the opportunity to take time for themselves and spend it with their families. As the busy season is soon approaching and the office may start to work longer hours, provide them a decent amount of time off or flexible hours.
In addition, try to host a company event and/or party before the busy season and encourage employees to bring their family members in order to boost team morale.
Provide Awards and Incentives
If you are able to, providing bonuses for achieving their goals is a great way to show your appreciation towards your employee’s hard work. If this is not doable, there are many ways you can show your appreciation through non-cash rewards or free meals. Instead of a monetary award, opt for a gift card to their favorite coffee shop or movie tickets. In addition, a trophy or plaque is a good way to show your employee appreciation because it is a physical item that the winners can display either in their homes or office.
If you want to make it more personal, treat them to lunch one day. By having lunch with your staff, not only does this show that you appreciate them, but it will give them a chance to get to know you a little better. If you do not want to leave the office, opt for taking the lunch TO your employees- order take out or plan a catering. Regardless of what option you choose, thoughtful gestures will be a great way to show your appreciation.
Today, we live in a very competitive world. Everyone’s goal is to be the best at what they do and to always be on the winning side. In order to successfully do so, it all comes down to the morale of your employees and their desire to be the best they can be. By recognizing their hard work, this will not only push them to do better but will place you as one of the “best companies to work for” and who wouldn’t want that?
